IFR Asia Belt & Road Financing Roundtable 2018: Roundtable participants
Ken Hu is chief investment officer, Asia Pacific fixed income, at Invesco, where he is responsible for a variety of strategies including the recently launched Belt and Road Bond Fund. He joined lnvesco in April 2014 from Bank of China Hong Kong (BOCHK) Asset Management, where he was CIO for fixed income, and earlier worked as CIO for Bank of China Group Life Assurance. His 21 years of experience include stints at HSBC Private Bank, First State Investments and Income Partners.
Mukhtar Hussain is a Group General Manager and Head of Belt and Road Initiative, Asia-Pacific, at HSBC, responsible for driving the bank’s BRI strategy. He has spent his entire career at HSBC, joining in London in 1982 as a graduate trainee before moving to the Middle East in 1993. He returned to London as Co-Head of Global Banking in 2006 and moved to Kuala Lumpur as Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Malaysia in 2009. He has served on HSBC’s Asia Pacific executive committee since 2010 and recently joined the board of HSBC Singapore.
King & Wood Mallesons
David Lam a partner at law firm King & Wood Mallesons, where he specialises in cross-border financing and is qualified to practise English, Hong Kong and PRC law. He has previously worked in London, Beijing and Shanghai, and has advised lenders, project sponsors and other parties in Belt & Road countries including Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Greece, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Pakistan.
Lam is a member of the Professional Advisory Committee of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and has collaborated with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority’s Infrastructure Financing Facilitation Office, a key body promoting BRI financing in the city.
Beibei Li is head of Banking and Origination for Belt and Road at Citigroup. She took on the newly created position in September after transferring to Hong Kong from New York, where she was responsible for Chinese institutional clients in North America. Li joined Citi in China in 1999 and previously held various positions in different markets including China and US.

Abdul Qadir Memon is Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Hong Kong. He has held the post since 2016 and has over 20 years of experience in the Pakistan government, with past assignments in diplomacy, administration and trade including almost five years as Deputy/Joint Secretary (Foreign Trade) in Ministry of Commerce. Abdul Qadir Memon holds a Masters in Public Policy from Graduate Research Institute of Policy Studies in Japan.
