John Barry

National Australia Bank

John Barry is head of capital financing for Asia, with responsibility for debt capital markets, infrastructure financing and all forms of specialised finance, including big-ticket leasing in the aviation and shipping industries. He is based in Hong Kong.

Barry was formerly head of securitisation at NAB in Melbourne, and has spent 15 years in the securitisation market at ANZ and NAB.

Sean Chang

Baring Asset Management

Dr Sean Chang is head of Asian debt at Barings, with responsibility for leading research into Asia’s fast-growing corporate and government debt markets. He is also the manager of the Baring Asian Debt Fund and the China Bond Fund, focussing on high yield to investment-grade securities across Asia.

He started his career in treasury at Commonwealth Bank of Australia before moving into fund management, with roles for Mirae Asset Management and HSBC, among others. He joined Barings in 2012.

Sean Mcnelis

HSBC

Sean McNelis is head of the financing solutions group for Asia. He advises banks and insurance companies across Asia Pacific on all levels of capital issuance, including Additional Tier 1 securities, Tier 2 bonds, insurance hybrids and loss-absorbing notes that count towards TLAC requirements.

His role involves interaction with bank and insurance issuers across the Asia-Pacific region, as well as with regulators and rating agencies with respect to hybrid capital instruments.

Mark Young

Fitch Ratings

Mark Young is head of the financial institutions group for Asia Pacific, based in Singapore. He is responsible for Fitch’s research and credit ratings on all financial issuers in Asia and Japan.

Prior to moving to Singapore in 2011 Mark spent 11 years covering developed and developing markets at Fitch in London, and was earlier based in South Africa.

Brian Weintraub

Deutsche Bank

Brian Weintraub is head of financial institutions capital markets for Asia at Deutsche Bank, responsible for capital and funding solutions for financial issuers across the region. He is based in Singapore.

Before joining Deutsche Bank in 2010, he spent time in the US and Australia at Morgan Stanley, O’Sullivan Partners (subsequently acquired by Lazard) and GE, and collected an MBA from Harvard Business School.*
